Sigma 10-20mm @ 10mm; f/5; 1/15 sec; ISO 100; -0.67 EC; Nikon D3100

I was going for that 'inside the picture' feeling that an ultra wide can give you, while showing the full building. Basically I wanted to make the viewer feel like they are in the picture, looking up at that building, about to cross the street. I was also trying to make use of the vanishing point down the street. Also, liked the sort of 'two layers' that the sunset was giving, the bottom, almost night time layer, and the top, still clinging to daylight layer.

Those are the things i was going for at least.

I like the perspective but the blurry cars don't appeal to me much and the streets are very dark. I would try reshooting with a longer exposure to give the cars that streaking light effect and a graduated ND filter that would help keep the sky from blowing out while being able to add a little detail to the street level.

there over processing of this image has resulted in halos forming around the corners of the buildings.

I tried a graduated ND filter on the shot at first. But it really made the building look weird, it caused a bizarre (from top to bottom) Dark -> light -> dark thing that I found to look really artificial.

With the cars, I was just out and about handshooting around the street without a tripod. 1/15 is about as slow as I wanted to go while handshooting. It might be a decent enough shot to go back another evening with a tripod, not sure. I've got another one that's more or less the same shot, but the car isn't going across. I'll post in a sec.

yeah, I'm not really sure why that happened. I just used normal processing for RAW images. For instance, I did the same exact processing on this one as the one above. But it doesn't have the haloing. Weird.

Kinda like what I did with it hear but with better editing lol. I blurred the building on the left.

Try cropping everything but the building.

that's impossible unless you use a trapezoidal crop. Or cut parts of the building out.

Crop what you can out then do a little photoshop magic.

eh, thanks for the advice, but I was trying to get the vibe of the dark street as the sun was setting as much as I was trying to capture the building. that is, I was going for the 'inside the picture' type feel.

makes me feel like I'm drunk, looking up at the building, and about to stagger across the street ...

softness, perspective, both?

The wide angle distortion.

Gotta love some of the responses.

You clearly said you wanted the darkness at the street level to be a feature of your image, so, sure enough someone tells you you should have used a graduated ND filter to lighten the street level. Hmm...
