Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
Had today off from work so I headed out for a 4/5 mile hike with my camera. We got about 10" of snow over the weekend. Hoping to maybe see an owl.
Crossed over many deer & coyote tracks and saw one old bobcat track. Not a lot going on. As I came up over a ridge I could see a fairly large hole in a big white pine about a 50 yards off. I worked my way a little closer and thought. If I were a critter and when the foul weather came, I would make this my home. I leaned against a tree pointed my camera at the hole , focused and started squalling ( don't ask lol). Was I suprised when something looked at me.
I thought it was neat anticiapting something was living in the den , then have something actually look at me LOL.

Made my day !!

That is so cool! You and I like to do the same kind of picture taking. I love hunting the woods. There's just a super sense of exhilaration when you find animals in their homes!

Nice wood ;)

Some times a partly hidden face works more than the whole face; but here it is highly insufficient to do that .....

Regards :D

JWellman / Frequency , Thanks for the feedback.

JWellman, I sooooo enjoy hiking randomly throughout the woods. Not knowing what photo opportunity is around each corner makes it exciting and challenging. Last summer while hiking I was able to capture a few moose feeding in a beaver pond in Southern Vermont. I'll see if I can't locate them and share with all.

Frequency, I agree with your comment. However, sometimes you have to take what you can get.

Happy New Year to you both.

Jim

While the photo may not be quite to everyone's expectations (and don't you say yourself in your title "Wish I Could HAVE Got a better Pic"?), I do feel what you must have felt when you suspected some animal might be living in that tree, and positioned yourself, and indeed, there was one there! You're right, sometimes you have to take what you can get, and you got this cute photo of the "peeping racoon", and I like it. Now if there were a tiny glint in that one eye that's looking at you...

So jealous! We don't have moose in my area, or elk and bears for that matter. I'm so ready to travel back out west. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'm able to go to Colorado this month. I try to travel westward every chance I get.

I'm seriously thinking about hopping on an elk hunt one day. The guys can shoot for food but hopefully they'll let me shoot first!

I hung out in the mountains in Arizona in December and frequented a little restaurant that catered to the hunters. Elk season was in and the place was packed. I wanted to ask a few of them,"Please Mr. Stranger, take me to the woods?" but decided that it didn't quite sound appropriate!

Believe it or not, I owned a hunting supply store for three years but I've never hunted in my life...well, other than modest stalking with a camera.

Yes, even though i mentioned that way, I too 100% agree with such realities...why, i could even rediscover something more in this image now ;)

Regards :D

Hi All,

I enjoy reading your feedback and sharing my experinces. A little about myself. Like JWellman I am new to SLR's. Always carried a point and shoot until late last winter. My skills with using a SLR have improved but, I got a loooong way to go. I am just having fun with it !! My objective with each outing is to try and capture a better picture than the one I have taken previously. Whether it being sure I capture the full criiter in the frame, lighting background , foreground ext. Below you will find some of what I consider my better pics. Vewing other nature pics on this sight can be very humbling, But that's how you learn......

Enjoy Jim

Love them! Especially the chipmunk...that is too cute! My neighbor told me I could sit in his field and use his blind this spring to capture the wild turkeys. I can't wait! Bring on warm weather! Woot!
