Gorgeous shots. Especially no. 1. #3 is very nice too.
 
I like number 1, the shadows are leading into the photo and the sun adds kind of an anchor point.

Number 3 needs something more in the foreground in my opinion. It looks a bit empty, and there is nothing really interesting in it. As you said yourself already, the noon light is also not really helpful in creating depth.

Maybe try a longer lens and focus on the aspen trees and the mountains in the background. Sometimes it helps to focus on certain parts of the scene, instead of trying to fit everything in. I have a similar scene that i still try to master, but so far i haven't found the sweet spot! Keep Trying! :-)
 
Yep for sure. 100mm is the longest I have right now which is what I used. 200mm would have been better I think.
 
Nice set. All of these are so much better when viewed on Flickr than on this site - for me anyway. The portrait shots show as huge on TPF and don't fit all on one screen for me so it's very hard to see the impact of the composition and the landscape shot is bigger and better viewed on black background on Flickr.
