Presently just west of Baton Rouge.
The images come directly out of the Atchafalaya Basin.
What about you?

IMHO I think it would be a lot more interesting if you cropped the bottom third out of the picture I would say just right above where that bottom ?log? that goes from the bottom up. Get just all the trees kind of thing I think would look a lot better and more interesting. I would have tried it but it says no editing your stuff :D

make that 3 of us.... westbank of new orleans for me. who won that LSU bama game?

I think that might blow the composition. You see, I tried.......( don't know if I was successful ) to lead the eye with the log on a third point.
The scene itself is actually a bayou that is covered with lily pads, fall leaves, and whatnot. If you were to step off in that, to the right of the log, you'd be neck deep, or over your head in black water, mud and lord knows what else.
This leads around toward the left, and up. Anyway , that's what I went for.
I wish I could blow it up here. It looks nice.
Note , as close as I could get on thirds from bottom left corner, to top right corner.
Note , end of the log falls on a third power point......Cypress stand on left , sit on a third.
It doesn't always go exactly the way I want it to. Sometimes, it can't.

Looks like Lake Bistineau in North Louisiana. Hello from Shreveport.

Those tree trunks are really interesting, but I'm afraid that the shot isn't...sorry. Its just very busy, a little too busy and I'm not sure what I'm supposed to focus on.

I'm in Metairie, right outside of NOLA.

Swampmonkey, what part of the Westbank (this site edits "W ANK" lol) ya from? I was born and raised in Terrytown :)

Thanks for the input. I'll have a better go at it next time around.
I'll bring a chain saw with me and a winch truck. I'll pull some of the stuff out of the water and knock 30 or 40 cypress trees down, have a stump grinder come in and finish it off so the stumps left behind don't distract anyone.
Then they can get the bull dozer in there to clear it off a bit so it won't be so busy. Then I'll stick a basketball goal up out in the middle of the bayou so there will be something to focus on.

It's a freggin cypress bottom as a scene for crying out loud. In the fall.
Seriously though, thanks for chiming in.....all sarcasm aside.

I agree with above. There is just too much going on without any focus. The log does not make an effective "pointer" as it's so small in the frame and sitting by itself, and it doesn't lead me to anything. It, to me, becomes the subject because it seems so out of place even though it's color and tone match the ground around it. And it kinda looks like a turd.

I'm from Metairie also.
I boxed for Harahan for a number of years as an amateur. Years past.
I'm just inside Lottie La. The basin is my back yard. lol

To fill in plot holes or explain away lapses in continuity in fictional works by coming up with (often convoluted) explanations of how it could have happened.
LMAO

Agreed!
