interesting image, IMO the other tree or foliage to the right could have been left out with a different angle/perspective or a tighter crop bringing the fallen tree in a more rule of thirds position.

for me this is one of those cases where breaking the rule of thirds actually works

one of many, many cases - somehow books on composition for painters never talk about ROT, at least several that I've read - where did photographers get this obsession with it?
