never really tried BW but the colors in this photo i didnt like.. So, here it is.

Water falls often lend themselves to black and white.

I have found color may look more natural, it often distracts attention from the falls.

I like rising falls too but I'm usually most captivated with suspended falls.

It's a nice shot and I agree with Derrel, just a touch more contrast but not too much or it will be too dark where it needs light for detail.

By local contrast do you me to just parts of the photo? It does look flat.

I hope you don't mind, but I can offer some helpful C+C ( I think ) for this one. Overall, firstly ; great shot and I do really like the composition. Exposure is very clean as well, nicely done.

- A few distracting items, once removed would clean this up very nicely. The small branches in front right, and the large branch in the water. Personally I opt to 'garden' instead of shopping things out. I would actually remove the long one in the water, and if I couldn't remove the front one ( was alive and growing ) I would just adjust the framing some, or find a way to hold it out of frame's way.

- What I really think is key, is a closer physical framing. I marked a vertical line where you could maybe use that tree and the far right big rock as your side frame. I find the far top left makes your eye go there, to follow the opening in the tree, but there's nothing really there. Would put the direct focus on the falls, versus just a little busy, as this one is.

You can use your dodge / burn tools very effectively, and subtly to really make water falls pop ; especially with a B+W. Darken the shadow parts in the water a little, or lighten the actual falling water a tad. Makes a nice difference, and you don't have to dial up the effect of dodge / burn. I usually have it under 20%.

No, it's fine, I would love to see what you do with it.
I do see what your talking about and yes, it needs a clean up.

I disagree. I do not this photo looks flat. If I could change one thing, it would be the stick at the bottom of the frame. Contrast..? Maybe a little more. But I think it's fine with the hazy feeling you get from the water. I like this a lot...well done.
