Fall's Reflection in Northern Minnesota

While there are some problems with this photo (please feel free to pick it apart), I hope you will it enjoy it none-the-less.

The photo seems quite fuzzy, out of focus maybe and somewhat lacking in sharpness. However the colours and reflections are obviously very nice indeed.

Lack of sharpness is two-fold. First and fore-most, I shoot with old glass. They probably weren't the best lenses in their day and no doubt did not improve with age like a fine wine. Secondly, for my landscape shots, I decided I liked the soft look and decided to do some research into if others were doing soft, painting-like photos. Turns out there was a movement back in the twenties and thirties called pictorialism and have since decided to strive to become a known name in this realm of photography.

Now that you mention this "pictorialism, I have absolutely seen photos similar to this but in b&w from early 20th century... If that was your goal, VERY well executed!

Hey there fellow Northern Minnesotan! This is taken 134 miles to the west of you near Cass Lake, Minnesota. The lake is either called Spring Lake (normal name) or Mud Lake (DNR name).

I am familiar with Pictorialism moreso via Fred Archer than any of the others in your link, and while it is not a style I try to ascribe to, in some instances such as this, I find it quite acceptable. What I found far more disconcerting than the movement or softness was the horizon line being off by a degree or more. In an image that already has contemporary limitations, that becomes a deal breaker for me.

As you can see by the two lines, the blue was your original and the magenta where it should have been placed. Ticky? Perhaps, but having perused so many thousands student works over the years, it is something that jumps out at me everytime.
