I feel the bottom of the stand is blown out. The bricks do have a light shading of pink in them.

Questions, comments, concerns? Thank you.

Hi, did you use a flash? If so, try turning it off, you'll have a slower shutter speed, so you might need a tripod, so to compensate for that you could increase the ISO. Alternatively, look into bracketing, as it'll allow you to take multiple shots with slightly different settings. Finally, you mentioned slight pink shading, you can either try a different white balance mode on the camera when taking the shot, or alternatively, shoot the image in RAW mode, and then you can do post processing colour corrections in Photoshop (if you have that).

Lovely cat :-)

Thanks Joeprice.

I downloaded the trial of Photomatrix and i found it a lot easier to use over CS5. My shots were autobracketed on a Canon G11, but I didn't use a tripod. Shot in RAW. In this one I prefer the shot now being as bright and a bit more realistic to the cats tones and brick colour. But the contrast on the first image in the fur is a lot more defined than this shot. I prefer the definition of the first but colours of the second!

It was a very bright sunny day,, with a little shade cast at the time on the cat.

i honestly like the first one better, even with the blown highlights

you can obviously try to get rid of those blown out parts with the burn tool, but it just might not be possible

i feel like the 2nd one lost a lot of depth in the shadows of the cats' fur
