Fan Dancer (maybe slightly NSFW)

Another one of Sam, in her spare time she's an aspiring burlesque dancer. I used the vignette in LR to suggest a stage spotlight.
Side note: I used Portrait Pro Body for this one, I've had it for about 3 weeks and I think I may be starting toget the hang of it. I'd told her that "the camera always adds 10lbs so I'll take off 20lbs." She liked that idea, sort of "This is how you'll look after a month or so on that diet you were talking about."

Colour or B&W?

Great shot you have.. i would prefer the B&W on this one.. it delivers better expressions but the vignettes seems a bit over to me.. just my (unprofessional) point of view.. cheers..

Has a nice 40s (or earlier) burlesque feel and as such the b&w is more appropriate though I am much more a fan of color. Would be interesting to see a "before and after" with that Portrait Pro Body.

Thanks, yes the vignette is over the top as a vignette but I was aiming to suggest a stage spotlight. Did I fail there? I might try another shot from this pose without.

OK, I don't see her expression that way (I tried) but it's one of those subjective things I suppose.

I might make a case for split toning here...but I like the B+W too.

I quite like this, and I think the vignette does it was intended to, and that, combined with the feather shadows really works well IMO. I like the colour & mono both equally well. My only nit here is the positioning of her right hand. I dislike the amputated wrist, and I think a 'hands on the hips' along with the expression which I quite like, would have given the image quite a saucy attitude.

For me, this doesn't compare to our other recent works. The light shadows from the fans are a touch bothersome. The vignette is nice. This just doesn't have the impact of your other stuff. For the average photog this would be very good, but for Granddad ... meh ... I have higher expectations.

Here's the split tone version, still with the amputated hand (she was holding the fans) but I promised JonA I'd give it a shot.

I like this split-toned one the most. The hands both being mostly behind the back and about equally hidden improves the pose over the earlier variant, I think. I prefer the vignette/spotlight look of the cold-tone B&W shots over the way the vignette/spotlight effect translated in this image.
