#5 is the most interesting of these to me. Figs are a fruit that I have no real-world experience with. I've never bought any, never really eaten any that I know of, so to me this is a foreign subject.

Also, you can make a glorious bread flavored with cut up dried figs, whole fennel seed, and freshly ground pepper.

Also, I love this series. Each picture alone is pretty good, but it's just a fig. Taken together, it's a kind of a study of figness or something. I am on the record repeatedly as being a big fan of the portfolio over the single picture, though.

Thanks, Derrel. This fig was given to me by a friend who has a fig tree. Figs are pretty common in the south, especially for some desserts and preserves.

Appreciate it! Yeah, I agree. The images need each other. My goal here was not really to create separate stand-alone images, but a connection/relationship between them. I am also a big fan of studies/series. Maybe I will title this set "Study of a Fig" or something along those lines.

"A study of figness" is the best phrase I've read in a while. Well, okay, since about Wednesday when I read the phrase "well-settled mootness" but that's a different story.

Figs are delicious but they certainly are not one of the more attractive-looking fruits, but these pictures are wonderful and really bring out whatever visual charm a fig may hold. They give dignity to the fig's ugliness. Seriously - that open fig in picture 5? Totally looks like the sarlacc at the beginning of Return of the Jedi, but it's still a beautiful picture, and instead of being repelled and using the Force to escape it, you become totally charmed by the fig.

I love figs. Fresh off the tree, they are one of the great joys of this world, just as long as you don't eat too many of them.

lol, I enjoyed your witty reply. The Jedi analogy cracked me up. You should be a writer! Anyway, yes, it is true that the fig is a bit on the homely side as far as fruits go. I am pleased you think I brought out the best in it. They are quite delicious and deserve a bit more attention, IMO. Out with the goji berries and in with the fig!

I'm drawn to #2 and #6.

I like #5 as others have mentioned, but I wish it was entirely in focus, so some stacking or smaller aperture might have been better.

The first time I went to Portugal was when I was 9. My uncle had a farm with some fig trees, and my brother and I would climb the tree to get fresh figs. That was the beginning of my love for figs. It was also the reason I learned what happens when you have too many! But good I learned my limits early

I have a soft spot for the ugly ones too, lol.

I was thinking about planting a fig tree. My friend says you need more than one, though. They have to pollinate each other, like blueberries.

#6 was also my favorite. I like the moody-figness of it. Thank you for the suggestion too. I had not considered stacking for that shot. It may be some months until I get another fresh fig, but I'll make a mental note to try stacking. Appreciate it!
