Got a chance to get away up the coast for a night, went up to an area that has always held fond memories and is just a downright beautiful place, I have 6 to share, c&c welcomed.

1. Simpons Beach, Coromandel Peninsula, NZ
First time I have ever stopped at this beach, always just driven on past, 8-9 out of 10 as beaches go I reckon.

2. Same as above, not sure which of these 2 I prefer.

3.Opoutere Harbour, The Hairpin
I am concerened with how busy this will appear, too full on perhaps, too much going on.

4. Opito Bay, the most beautiful beach I have stepped foot on ever, 10/10. This is shot at the northern end, beach is probably about 3km long and of the finest, whitest sand with a golden sheen of sand somehow closer to the waters edge, arrived here way too late, sun had already set, will definately be back though.

WOW! What a GORGEOUS place! #5 is beautiful! Not really sure which one I like best! I do prefer #2 over #1, and #3 is beautiful, but as you said, it does a look a little busy. Great job! =)

Thanks UnderThePink, re No.3: we are heading back there for a few days over Christmas so will definately try that one again.

Are you still using your kit lens.. Let me tell ya.. you always post the best stuff with kit lens.

If I ever get a chance to move to NZ, I'm going! lol
Awesome photos!!!!

Thanks NN, hmmm photosafari maybe?

Good stuff. Always enjoy ur stuff Rob. I'd go with #2

Thanks Mo, so thats 2 for No.2

Thanks Scwetty, actually all of these are with the Canon 10-22mm, I swear the kit lens is sharper though, maybe I have a soft copy or I am just used to the sharpness of the 50mm and 300mm L series and have been forever burned. Still need to test, they were all around 10mm end but up at around f/9-11ish I think, could be soft due to being at 10mm.....they seem to sharpen up ok in post.

Oh how I wish - its snowing here.

Snow, now thats a foreign concept for me, only touched snow once I think.....cold makes me want to hibernate.

If its any concelation Ron, Sunday was actually borderline too hot 30-34c, clear blue skies, no wind to speak of, I could feel my fair skin starting to fry......and the water temperature is still fairly cold.

You dont list the 10-20mm on your sig.. Thats why I assumed it was the kit lens :)

Yeah Rob, #2 of the first 2. Although if you played with the color in #1, I could dig that also!

#4 and #6 are excellent!

So you think it maybe a little undersaturated? It is compared to the 2nd one, but its also more as it was on the day.

Absolutely fantastic photos. You're truely blessed to live in such an amazing environment.

Thanks Bram, it was a timely reminder of how awesome this place is, I could spend a month shooting within 50km of this area and still not truly capture it, we had a bit of drive around some other parts of the coastline the following day on our way home and I was inspired to find a way (time and money) to get back soon to capture some of these beaches, ridiculously beautiful.

#4 and #6 are excellent!

Thanks Mecal.

2 more that I finished off last night, not as strong as the first 4 though IMO, but still worth sharing.
