I am finally introducing myself!! I have posted several times in the last few weeks but since I just got my first DSLR it's time I said hello.
I'm a Brit mama living in Seattle and have loved photography for a long time but never got down to business until just recently. I took photography at university in London for a while (shooting with a 35mm Pentax mostly in B&W), and then received a BA in Film & Video here in WA. I then worked in film and video production as continuity/script supervisor and while film is working with with the moving image, I garnered a lot of knowledge of light and composition while working on set for years.
I am now staying at home raising my little boy (he's 3), and naturally having a child has prompted me to take thousands of pictures...but it has renewed my love of photography. I am nowhere near great or experienced but have decided it's about time I knuckled down and got serious with capturing the world as I see it. I recently got a Nikon D3100 - woohoo! - (I only have a kit lens for now, but would like a 50mm very soon) and am excited about learning and growing with my new camera. My crappy P&S was just not cutting it!! I also like shooting with my Diana F+ 120 film camera because it makes me slow down and really consider what I am shooting.
I am currently taking shots every day for my 365 Project (you can find my pics at Katherine Moore · 365 Project if you like
and I also am the unofficial photog for my partner's band, as well as for my son's preschool class.
I just want to learn from all the great and experienced photographers on here. This forum is great! See you all around!
