Picture #1 is spoiled to a degree from that out of focus bunch of leaves. they're very distracting. If you have an editing program that can clone them, I would certainly do so. The rump of the Zebra really suffers from being blown out, as does the upper portion of the tail. I would also try to deal with that issue with your editing program.

Picture #2 is a nice, solid composition, with a softer, more diffused light. Overall, it's a much better composition then picture #1.
