I just went through several of the Strobist tutorials...Time to practice!

Try this for an experiment. Get a $2 white foam board (or a black one because it's white on the back....dual purpose) and turn your flash around and bounce it of the foam board into your subject from the same angle. (possibly turn down the flash power too) The foam board works surprisingly well in small rooms like that. It's a cheap way to learn about bouncing/reflecting light.
