First Attempt.

Okay so I literally have no idea how this all works. Only thing I used was HDR in photoshop cs4 and then used contrast, brightness, etc to tune it a bit. Any other suggestions on how to achieve better looks woulld be MUCH appreciated. Anyways heres my first attempt... I feel like its just really high contrast

Thats not HDR. You should have posted it in Digitally Altered Images. I cant imagine you tried to make an HDR not having a clue what it is!
