First B&W prints critique

What kind of film are you using?

I was going to say, that's either CN, or FujiFilm ACROS.

Pretty much what everyone else has said, the composition is there but the highlights aren't, try shooting with an orange or a yellow filter. I have those plus a greenie in my bag.

Thanks, I'm glad the most important aspect is there at least, haha. I'll have to head to kenmore camera soon, maybe, pick up some filters

Well, the tonal values look kind of compressed. These are third-generation images: negative>print>scan. There's plenty that can go wrong with the added step in there. These might very well look better if they were made from scans of the original negatives. Keep at it though-you're doing much much better than most B&W film beginners that I have seen!

I may try scanning the negatives, I just had to use my teacher's scanner and didn't have time to mess with the negative carrier or the long scan times

You know, comparing my prints to these scans, they are night and day. The contrast is a lot better on the prints, and the blue color shift is clearly noticeable. I guess I'll have to scan the negatives
