Thanks for the honest feedback. I'm still a total newbie at this so I'm aware I've got a lot of improving. All your comments will help.

the second one would be better with the wings intact and not cut off.

Yes. I think that's part of what was said earlier about needing a wide angle lens. I either got the whole aircraft in but it looked lost in the rest of the photo, or I chopped bits off to get closer.

may i show what a little play with the levels can do?
