First DSLR Canon or Nikon

80% of Olympus' business comes from the Medical field...the Camera business is small and really just playing around.

C'mon now pentax has a medium format camera back for under $10k. I'd say that's innovative.

Not sure if innovative is the right term here, the fact you can get medium format for the price Pentax is offering is where they are different.
As far as I know they dont have any technological breakthrough with their medium format but its relatively affordable and that is a BIG thing for those who want this format.

I thank you all. I think I will in a store and try Canon, Nikon and Pentax, all brands are good. I'll see what and that I fit better.

It's innovative only if they make money from selling it

The everlasting battle between canon and nikon continues. It's probably one of the questions everybody new to photography asked themselves (including me :) ). My advice, check with your friends what they got, check which brand is more available in the place you live, and buy that brand. That way you can exchange/borrow equipment from your friends and easily get your hands on accessories you need.

I like how Nikon has the focus assist beam on the body, and doesn't need to pop up the flash when you don't have your speedlite(or other accessories with you). I also like how there are two control dials instead of one on most of Nikon's bodies.

Why Canon/Nikon over the others? It is the total systems they offer. There are more lenses both OEM and 3rd party, more lighting equipment, and certainly more camera body in both APS-C and FF choices than the others combined.

Pentax & µ4/3 both have quite enough lenses in their range for most photographers. Why is having a huge range of similar lenses to choose from any advantage? Likewise with camera bodies & accessories, if a range includes the devices required to do the job well adding more options to the range isn't going to help you.

Pentax haven't got a FF camera in their range yet (apparently due towards the end of the year) but there are already 50 years worth of full frame lenses from multiple manufacturers that will work perfectly on it when it does arrive. Not so far behind in range after all?
There are even a few ultra specialist lenses in the historical Pentax range that according to UV & IR forums Canon have never made. (Ultra apochromatic lenses for Forensic work).
