First Event

Took pictures of my friend's baby shower. First time doing an event. Brought in some backdrops and some props. Mommy was happy.

The matte effect to me seems to give some of them a bit of an almost hazy look. I'd think next time too about checking and arranging the hair as women move and change poses, especially with longer hair.

You have plenty of space above the subjects but with some I'd think about where the bottom of the frame is, so you're not getting an edge of something or cutting someone off. For example in the first one I think it would be better not seeing the edges of the legs and might make for a cleaner composition if it was framed able the bottom of the girls' skirts. In the last one, stripes can be tricky and that dress looks fine but I'd probably have framed above the bottom of the white shirt instead of below (just preference on that). In the second to last I'd rather not see them cropped off above the wrists and the girl's bracelet is rather distracting (cute! but would rather see it if the hand was posed differently but not have it at the edge of the frame), otherwise they look good and it's a lovely shot of them.

Like every new experience - you make mistakes and learn from them. I appreciate your input. The backdrop I chose for this event was too short so I cropped where it actually ended, in hindsight I should have just lowered it, but...
