What's new

First fashion Attempt C&C pls.

it's a very good start :)

the first 3 are very underexposed. I'm not really sure how to "fix" that, someone with more experience can expand on this...

the shadow (I'm assuming from a mast) that goes through the middle of her body in #4 needs to be cloned out or something...

That's all I can see, but I'm sure there is more. I'm not as experienced as some others here :)

Thanks guys , it was extremely bright out on the water today in Miami , I'm sure i have underexposed these in post . I will try to post the originals in a bit . I'm not too good at post !! lolol.

Yea that rope going through her shirt will have to be removed ,not too difficult i suspect . Thanks again guys .

In my humble opinion:

My first impression is that you need much more light on the model in the first 3. The water in 1 and 3 looks nice and bright to me, which doesn't lead me to believe that they're under exposed, but that you needed some light coming from the front of your model. Number *2* looks under exposed to me.

#4's background is too busy for my liking and, as someone mentioned, you have a shadow running through her shirt.

You have a pole coming out of the guy's head in #5. It also looks to me as though it might be a *bit* underexposed.

Nice shots...

I feel that you could benefit from a slight adjustment to the white balance. I did a quick edit to the first one to show what I mean... I also added a tad of sharpening...

For natural lighting I think you did well. I wouldn't say they are badly under exposed because if you bumped the exposure up you would be losing a lot of detail in the water.

But if I did this I would grab the lens that has the lowest f-stop and rack it to the lowest f-stop and shoot in aperture priority (I shoot in that mode on location 98% of the time) with an ev of +.3 or .7 to see where that got me. Of course iso 100 would be in use (might need an nd filter).

Then pick up a piece of white foam core board. (or a trigrip but those are $55 more) and have an assistant hold that and you have an instant fill. And use the sun as a kicker light.

GORGEOUS female model ,and lovely makeup and styling on her. Better exposures on the shadowed side of her would have helped; Redtippman's suggestion of using reflector fill makes a ton of sense. The guy is sharp-looking too. For early efforts, these results are better than run of the mill.

they're okay. nothing special though. just like all fashion photos.

#4 is really good IMO. I have no idea what PP have you done to #2, but it just doesn't work. Generally it really wouldn't hurt if #1-3 were just a tiny bit brighter.

Also, in a place like that you have to be careful when shooting portraits, as with such a busy background it's sometimes hard to avoid having poles etc. coming out of models' heads.

In the first two the models position looks awkward to me and I pay more attention to that than the clothing.

Yeah, 4 is way overloaded. In fact, I didnt notice her handbag at first, and when I did... I thought it was a part of the boat or something.. ;P
