First fashion show and need pointers

Hi, I have my first runway shoot in a week. I will be using my Nikon D600 and probably rent the Nikon 7-200 f/2.8 VR II. I've read some suggestions stating ISO not to exceed 400, shutter speed 1/200 and aperture at f/4 to ensure I freeze the motion. I'm not sure if they allow flash. I will try to be in a position where I can get the runway turn as well as front shots.

I was thinking of using my 50mm f/1.8 FX for backstage. I also have a 35mm f/1.8 DX. I love quality of both lenses, but I don't think I mastered my settings for my 50mm. Also, what about WB? What about AF, should I use the 3d feature under my AF-C? Should I try to do this without flash? I only have the Younghou 560 flash on hand. I would love to have the SB-910 but I'm a student, enough said.

Are there any other suggestions anyone may have? I really appreciate all the guidance I can get.

I see no need to limit your ISO to 400 or lower; the D600 can make very nice pictures at HIGH iso values, like 1250,1600, even 2,000. It has excellent HIGH-ISO performance!!! It;s one of the better camera in the world at elevated ISO values.

You want to get sharp shots...I would not worry much about ISO, and would actually suggest starting with 400 ISO as the MINIMUM, as in the lowest ISO value, used. I would start with ISO 4090, and work upward from there.

In regards to white balance, are you shooting RAW? Because if you're not, you should be. I would just set this on AUTO if you're shooting RAW, you can always change it in post.

I would shoot in AF-S, single focus point, on the face.

As has been said above, don't limit yourself to ISO 400, you can push the D600 much further than that a can get perfectly usable pictures.

Without knowing where the ISO suggestion came from, I will speculate that it may have been formulated years ago when high-ISO performance was still quite noisy. As Derrel wrote; your camera has excellent high-ISO performance. You'll do just fine.
