what they're trying to say is, if you take T-Pain with you, everything will go perfect :)

Boats and ho's…boats and ho's… I gotta have me my boats and ho's.

Thanks for the help... I really am nervous here.

On another note..Don't worry about being nervous. I'm sure everybody has been nervous at some point. I get nervous everytime I shoot. No matter if it's a baby or a dog. I'm always scared the pictures are going to turn out like crap! Just loosen up, and pretend like you've been doing this kinda thing for 20 years. I'm sure you'll be fine.

Hey, my dad wants me to come with him to his company's boat trip, and be the photographer... I agreed!
Now I'm nervous! There are 70 people on the boat. I have to get the event and take a group picture. That's a lot of people looking at me! (I'm super nervous in front of people.)

So it's not really professional, he said otherwise they would just have someone with a point-and-shoot do it. But I'm still worried I won't take good enough pictures. :(

It's also during the day, so lighting won't be too hard to take care of... Still...
I feel nervous. I'm glad my camera has image stabilization!
Any suggestions/encouragement?

I just want to clarify to make sure you understand. Your camera does not have IS. The IS is in the lens. So depending what lens you use, it may not have IS. Really learn how to shoot againts the sun with flash and you should be OK. External flash is probably important.

P.S. Is facebook banned over there?

I'm sure you'll be doing totally fine there.
As long as you are your dad's "hired" photographer, and there's not someone else all of a sudden who photographs the same event over your shoulder, or rather: stabbing their ellbow into your ribs you'll be ok. And the nervousness will disappear. (I have once entered into a commissioned event photography session for which I was hired only to find I was not the only one, and THAT made me QUITE A BIT nervous! Plus I felt it was sooo not fair of the people who had hired me, as they had never let me know I'd not be on my own).

Concentrate on your composition and settings and you'll forget to be nervous. It works for me, anyway. For the group shot, try to make sure the sun isn't casting shadows on your subjects.

Keep in mind, most people will ignore you. You might have a few camera hogs or whatnot, but for the most part they will be too busy having fun and mingling.

A trick I use before speeches in my public speaking class (it's almost over, it's almost over!) is to count my breaths and concentrate on them. Anything you can think about to busy your mind will help.

You should take some shots around Turkey and post them!! I don't have the $$'s to travel, and I love learning about other cultures. Even one's that block YouTube.:(

*Bah* don't be nervous. What's the worst that could happen (photographywise)? If you feel overwhelmed, throw the camera into...

...Auto. It'll relieve a little stress.

Just go out and do your best. You'll be at least as good, if not better than somebody using a P&S. So, Go give it your all, and be all that you can be!

I don't know how many people will be there, but it helps the people you're shooting to get comfortable with you taking pictures, as well as helps you get comfortable taking pictures if you talk to them a few minutes before you start shooting. Just kind of go around and introduce yourself, have some small conversations, and continue to do so throughout the event. Once they loosen up and you get to know them a little bit you'll also have an easier time catching moods and what not.

Oh my, and here I thought you'd say "Bosporus"!

So, how did it go? Better than you expected, I'm sure. Do tell us!

LCARSx32, if you're interested, hop over to my Flickr, there's hundreds of photos from Turkey there, from two trips I've taken there of late, one in autumn of 2008 (two albums), and one in spring of this year (two albums, the second of those two not even quite completed yet, if I remember right). )

It's tomorrow. :P I got a tripod today.
I'm less nervous! Apparently the subjects are all men, so no camera hogs. XD And they aren't rich people– just the normal people of the company. XD
But still... ergh.

And whoever said that: I KNOW my lens has IS....

I'll just try and be the silent shadow clicking away....
