I recently purchased a Tamron 70-300VC and went for a walk on a trail behind my apartment to find some animals to photograph. Turns out finding them is harder than I thought

I finally found a bird, and some squirrels to shoot, here's the results!

I really like the Red Cardinal Shot, I'd get rid of the blue sky and twigs in the left half of the frame though.

I also like the second squirrel shot - it's just a shame about the twig cutting across him, but that's the nature of nature photography, they never go where you want them to!

For your first shots, these are not bad at all.

One question though: What image quality/size are you shooting at? The original of the Cardinal is only 1200 x 797, which seems a bit small.

I too really like the cardinal shot. Really good composition. The colors are very good to. The red of the bird and the blue of the sky interact well with eachother.
