My setup was, 1 SB600 with a 24" diffuser, Nikon D40 w/ sigma 18-200 and polarizing filter
and the models were my sisters, which made it very low pressure and easy, not to mention free :)

A good start; you've got your ratios nicely, but the single '600 just wasn't quite enough. You need a second light source for these. Not especially in #s 1 and 3 how the middle body area and image left side is under-exposed. Of course ideally you would have a second strobe/speedlight here, but without that, try a reflector. A large piece (24x48) of white or light yellow poster-board or foam-core would have helped greatly, and is a very inexpensive way to add light.

Good job! I agree with tirediron, but these look pretty good. I know you are specifically referring to the lighting in these pictures, but don't forget to take out the tent or whatever it is on #2 that is on the left hand side ground. Looks like it was fun and a beautiful day!

thank you for the input! yeah i do see how her right shoulder is under exposed. so by buying a reflector to bounce the flash off of it would be able to reach the other side of the image? I dont think i have the budget to go buy another speedlight or strobe, so that would probably be my best option
