first outing with camara

me and the wife took our kids out today and took our new camara with us and took some brilliant pictures. came home and looked at them on computer and we are just amazed at the quality off them compared to our old point and shoot one. will try and upload some for critic and pointers if I'm going wrong anywhere.

That first outing is a thrill, congrats. What kind of camera did you get?

nikon d5100. only got 18-55mm lense at minute. after today we are sure we want the 55-300mm.

as far as kit lenses go, if you have a little extra money, get the 70-300 VRII lens. it is better built than the 55-300, and it is a FF lens in case you ever upgrade.

full frame. meaning the lens will work on full frame cameras as well as crop frame cameras (like your D5100)

Or if you want to spend less money and have more depth of field to play with, get a 50 mm 1.4.

Here's a great kid shot someone shot using that lens that shows off how it handles light, it's clarity and depth, and how easy it is to shoot without much ambient light.
