First photos of birds

i recently brought my camera to school and just shot whatever i could. and i got these. any thoughts?

Love the first one. Kinda gives an air of grandeur.

Nice positioning on both. They're both a little soft, and they need to be a faster shutter.

The EXIF is stripped, but I'll bet that if you upped your ISO a stop and maybe opened your lens up (assuming you weren't already wide open) you'd get less motion blur but you also have to contend with the softness that comes with a wide open lens.

I like to first one best. Would you be able to crop it a little less tight on the right wing? Or it was shot this way. There is a little tiny bit gone. You have a little motion blur mostly on the wing, but the body is fairly sharp. Give me an impression of movement instead of simple annoying blur. I like! It's really hard to freeze a bird in flight, you have to shot super fast (1/1000 and faster, from my noob experience) to get a perfect freeze.

thanks for the comments guys. i cant crop the right wing any less because thats how i shot it. i was spinning in order to get a shot of it and thats the best i could do with my lack of experience. next time i go out ill up the iso in order to sharpen the birds a bit more. thanks for the tip
