This is my first post/picture. Nothing special about the photo, I just thought my Shepherd looked a bit mischievous. C&C please

cute pup! I always like action shots of puppies/dogs, or for cats when they're lurking. Maybe try some outdoor shots of him at the park or in the back yard?

You got the eyes nicely in focus, which is key.
The picture seems a tad bit under exposed, but that could easily be my monitor at work.

I think you need work on the composition though. You said it yourself, that there is nothing special about the photo. The toy on the ground, the carpet, the wood floor... it doesn't do much for me.

It might work if you zoomed in and filled your frame more with the actual subject, thus cutting out the lesser interesting things in the picture.
