This is my first post to this forum, a shot I took this weekend of a Sharp-Shinned Hawk (Juvenile?) hunting in a snow storm that hit Long Island. He/She has been hunting my chickens for several days now and appears to have set up territory nearby.

I used a Canon 6D and an EF 100-400mm IS.

Well done- really compelling image.

Nice shot! if it is hunting chickens it is most likely coopers or are your chickens smaller then a blue jay

Thank you. It is definitely possible that it is a Coopers Hawk, although I find them extremely hard to differentiate between the two so if you have any tips please let me know. I do have a Brahma (very small pigeon sized chicken), but the chickens were all in the run at the time.
