Here are a few pics I did from free practice sessions last weekend with the new camera. C&C please on posing, lights, or anything really. Thanks.

Through in the Pyramid shot since Derrel mentioned it.

Im mostly interesting in lighting. Set up was softbox camera left, one camera right for fill and a SB-600 for background separation which failed totally on the black. Its an endless void. It was very uneven SOOC so I increased the blacks with negated the light on the back. And I see in the one I missed something but too lazy to fix it. My red couch is behind the whitebackdrop and I think I am getting a bit of color wash from it which gaves this image a pinky tone. Could be my eyes though.

It's pretty amazing to look at the D700's Large size JPEG files and notice the degree of fine detail visible. Colors look pretty good, but some of the whites on Mariah's sweater look a bit over. I saw your group pose with the eight volleyball team members the other day, and thought that was a pretty good shot with them in a modified pyramid.

Thanks Derrel, I'll have to go back and see if I can recover a bit of that. I had a hard time with all three lights trying to nail the lighting with out going over.

@Schwetty, Like I know if I had shot a Canon these would have been much better right. :greenpbl: @ Stutterfly, thanks.

MWNC. Mom with a nice camera. :)

Dee, did you try resizing your pics to 720px on the longest side for facebook, and if so did you find that it worked for you?

did u crop or full frame?

My guess was that she bought a FX camera to use it as such. It would be kind of counter productive to buy a ~$2500 full frame camera to shoot it in highspeed crop right off the bat. knawmsayin

Congrats on the new toy Dee! Good looking shots; not much to say, other than some (most notably 1, 2, 5) look like the key is about 1/2 stop too hot. The whites seem right on the verge of being blown.

First let me say I wish I could get something as nice as those. On #4 there is something on the bottom right hand corner. And #5 the girl on the bottom right looks to be further back from the others.

Finally got the full frame huh? Good for you congrats. Look good to me, lighting looks nice, well exposed. Good set MWC!

Thanks!

Thanks John, I have a hard time guessing lol, I know I need to invest in a light meter I think.

Thanks Mike, I know, I was lazy and missed the corner of the backdrop/floor meeting the carpet and didnt see it till after I posted. Lazy lol. She is indeed further back.
