Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
I've only recently began to take photography more serious and work towards shooting more than just cars at the local car show, so I took a journey to Craigslist. I came across an ad looking for someone to shoot a two person band, and after talking for what turned out to be a month we met up.

Since we spoke for so long it made it a little less awkward, but for me I was nervous since I've never worked with strangers before.

Lighting was 2 cowboy studio hot lights with 100w 65k lights, shot through white umbrellas, with white and black muslins as the backdrops.

C&C is always welcomed and greatly appreciated.

The band is a local (to me) band in Providence, RI called The Alarming Sound. More on them here:

Alas, here are some of the shots. The full set can be found on my Flickr:

not bad at all. #2 would have been great if she were looking away too. but #5 is my fav

Like them all

#1 - That crop (girls feet and blowhorn) just doesn't look right.

Nice series.

The one thing that strikes me is the images with the darker background. Try adding in a light that would seperate them a bit from the background. As you have them there, the dark hair or dark clothes just mesh into the background.

Thanks for the input and compliments guys.

I'll have to add in another light next time. On my laptop where I edit I brought the black up so the backdrop was dark, and their hair wasn't lost, but close. Now that I'm looking on a different monitor I see how it all blends together :/

I would like all of them better if they were complete. By that I mean they are shots to promote the band (assumption) I applaud you providing the "canvas" blank space where these promotional remarks can be inserted. I would like to see the finished ones with promotional lettering.

I like them but I might try a look at #1 with the left edge cropped off. Her 1/2 shoes and calf are an unneeded distraction to me.

Could be a monitor calibration thing... mine at work totally sucks.

So as long as you are editing on a calibrated monitor, then you are good to go. If not, then your work will be seen differently on different outputs

Not too bad but none are saying band shots to me, the black background nead a light from behind for separation

I left promotion to them, these were shots of them as a TFP deal.

Here's what he did:

I've never done any type of graphic design, except for my business card but I kept that super simple. I'll give it a shot with some of my shots, couldn't hurt to practice and maybe they'll like 'em.

Five is my favorite, liking the umbrella reflection in her glasses!
