I managed to get a model who was way out of my league (in terms of experience). I learned a lot from her as to how to direct models, what makes a good model, how to use angles. Does everyone fall in love with their first model?

Is that the only pose? I guess I'm having a hard time seeing where girl going to work in the morning and model interchange. The sky is pretty blown out on the 2nd one and I would prefer a model not have such a large bag covering her up unless she's modeling the bag. But for a first time it's good. I think you will fall in love with every model if you're doing it right, but that's just my opinion. Hopefully you fall out of love when the shoot is over though.

Yes this happened.

She had other poses, these were just the two I chose. I dunno why, subliminally, maybe I think this is her best pose. And yes, she was modelling the bags. There were 15 of them in total, not all of them were this large.

the pose never changes ,why don't you show her some gestures and take some shots? if you are kinda of sky, i guess the model will be nervous .Just keep a common sense and do it .the effect will be better .

I will choose a longer focal length instead to have less distortion. And maybe choose a different camera angle. (Camera seems to be way below eye level)

the light is confusing on #1.
too bright on the top left and dark on lower right.
doesnt look like an indoor light at all.

She was modeling the bags, so the main subject is the bag in stead of the girl.

I understand that. However if the over all photo is not good (I do not mean OP's photo is bad), it may have a negative effect on the subject.

I personally like the first picture! I think it is a lot better then number two. But i'm not an expert :)

Generally I know what caused the issues mentioned. The reason for the focal length was because this was the foyer of a house and it was only marginally larger than those half-baths you find in most homes, and I was right in the door way. And why the it was so bright up top and kinda dark underneath is because I couldn't get the fill light to drop any lower. Ideally I would've moved it back the fill light encompassed all of her, but again, tight space, the light was already right up against the wall.

Soften it then with white material or bounce it off a reflector or poly board

post Up some other shots. I want to see what else you had going on here. Definitely some lighting issues that need to be address. But my issue is location. You have a nice looking model but what is going on with the locations? First looks like it in your house and next like your just getting in the car. Not really much to get excited over. This is why I want to see what else you did.

The first one totally sold me on the bag. I thought it was clear immediately that that's what she was modeling. Nice pose. Great wardrobe + bag choice against that wall/floor color. I like the lighting in this case. You don't want to over-do it and appear commercial. My only issue is the angle creating odd proportions but, considering that couldn't be resolved (right? because of limited space?), I think you did as much as you could have here.

The second one is not as strong a pose as the first. The lighting isn't fantastic (uncontrollable, I know) and the sky behind her is blown out. This one seems very commercial and cheap.

Overall, beautiful model and can I please have that first bag?
