What's new

First time with the Hasselblad C+C

I have to take the blame for the skin, I upped the contrast a bit and increased the shadows slider and then lowered the saturation. I did this because the light reflected off of the very flawed backdrop. It was rolled up carelessly by the last person so it was very wavy and I couldn't black it out.

I'm going to make a diagram of the lighting setup/

After recently finding out what we get with this course, I can't see why people wouldn't purposely fail and just take it over and over again.

You get unlimited studio use (If scheduling allows, you can shoot 7 days a week if you want) Unlimited printing (You have to supply the paper), and complete access to the hasselblad system. All of which can be used for your own personal use. I asked specifically if I can use the studio to shoot my wife's makeup portfolio and my professor said "Of course! I want the studio used as much as possible! You can use the studio for anything you want, even personal gigs" This was a pleasant surprise, due to the fact that the studio was limited to classwork only last semester for the reason that someone brought people in for a paid gig. I guess over the summer they decided to support the students careers while in school.

This course costs about $480+$50 lab fee.

Go ahead. Rub it in.

Yeah....man...sounds good! The prof sounds like he's cool with things. Well, I say, take advantage of it and shoot the chit outta' whatever you can and soak up all that learnin!

I guess my point was to research local community colleges and see if any have a photography program like mine.

Yeah. I'm having so much fun that my hair is turning gray lol.

Hey when the lighting and resolution is that perfect don't be tempted to "over-smooth" or over process the the skin =)

Even though every pore and anomaly will stand out

Lighting setup as-diagrammed has the fill light coming in from almost the same angle, but opposite side as the key light...which looks like an accurate diagram for the third shot...which has vague and undefined source of main light. The first two have a more-defined shadow, indicating that the output of the key light was significantly more powerful than the fill light's output. Most times, setting up two lights and cross-lighting like that is not considered the best way to light (although it is used to copy artwork a lot). You'll probably have a lot of fun, and learn an awful lot before the course is over! Thanks for posting, and keep up the good work. We really are trying to help.
