wow cool, i wanted to try something like this the other night in a storm but im terrified of lightning :)

what was your exposure settings if you dont mind me asking

Thanks. I took cover inside a car wash so my camera wouldn't get wet

Very nice, just took my first lightning shots a week or so ago so I'm also curious as to what settings you used...

You got a good one!

What white balance setting did you use?

I always think in terms of framed wall prints and blue skies: I did your copyright statement smaller, and in a less obtrusive color, also in the lower left corner. That white one barks way to loud.
A mid-tone contrast adjustment brought out a little more lightning bolt detail there on the right.

How do you do this, just turn shutter right down then hope the lightning strikes during that time?

I love your edit. I am still learning how to pp

I love it. I love doing lightning photography, have managed to get some pretty good ones with my P&S just by taking mass-photo's....but ever since I got my DSLR, we'd had a fricken heat-wave and draught.

100+ for 40 days lol :/

Anyways, great shot!
