I was very excited to get my first prime lens, and I spent all weekend just amazed at the crazy DoF that it gave me. Here are three of my favorite shots of my daughter (I did some still stuff too, but these were more entertaining, and the others can be found on Flickr with their pre-post-processing versions), and I was looking for some suggestions. It took me about 36 hours to figure out that when shooting wide open I should use the center AF point only and then recompose from there to avoid being just out of focus on some shots. I don't plan to always keep it wide open, but it was my main goal this weekend to just get a feel for it.
Totally shocked this came out since I thought I was in aperture priority mode when I was actually in manual. Had to change SD cards on the fly and didn't think to change the settings.

Before I figured out the plane of focus. I was originally just shooting some flowers, but my dad thought it would be hilarious to stick her into the bush, and I had to shoot quickly. I was thinking of possibly cropping off some of the over-exposed flowers, but I didn't want to disturb the ratio very much.

I love this one just for her expression. I know the background is rather bland, but you don't have very many options when you're chasing around a 2 year old and trying to get a close-up.
