Flamborough Head - critique please?

First attempt with graduated ND filters. Made the mistake of not shooting RAW though!

Would love some critique on the shot and the post production

because it's in jpeg it'll be pretty hard to fix, but the line where the GND filter was is very obvious, along the hills to the left.

I was thinking a similar thought. I think the sky is excessively darkened.

Meter the sky vs. ground to determine the exposure difference. Use that to determine which GND strength to use.

It looks like you used a hard edge GND but I'm thinking a soft edge would have been more subtle.

Great shot but like mentioned before. the filter is tilted the wrong way. A little strong and a hard edge. Try it with a soft edge and less steps. Line it up through the viewfinder to get the DNG line and the sky correct. It will look better.

If you're new to grads, here's a couple of good videos by Lee filters:





Ideally, you'd own a 1, 2, and 3 stop "soft" edge as well as a 1, 2, and 3 stop "hard" edge grad set -- giving you fairly good flexibility for most situations. That's a lot of filters to buy (especially if you're buying high-end filters.)
