flash on tripod help please...

ok...i really wanted to save my stupid questions for more important stuff,but here we are.......Are hot shoe mounts different among camera brands (ie:canon/nikon)?I will assume they are.That being said,I would like to mount my promaster 7500 (nikon) to a tripod that has the 1/4 20 stud.

Hot shoes are the same. What differs is the other connections used by the manufacturers. If all you're wanting to do is physically mount a flash to a tripod, you won't be using those shoe connections at all. All you'll need is a basic plastic base with a ¼" thread in the bottom.
