Flash Questions

Well, as I am accumulating funds for these accessories, my mind seems to flop daily. One day I am considering an inexpensive flash (Vivitar) the next I am thinking of sticking with Canon.

I really need some guidance about pros and cons of going with Vivitar vs Canon, or Canon vs Vivitar. Are there any functions that I would be missing? What can I do on a canon that I could not do on a vivitar?

Also, I am thinking of Transmitters/Receivers. Earlier the Cactus V4 system was mentioned. That seems like a cost effective system, but does the performance correspond to the price? Should I be considering a nicer system? For example a pocket wizard system? Thoughts/opinions/suggestions?

Thanks for your help, it is hard making uninformed decisions. And unfortunately a decent/ trustworthy camera shop is not close to where I live.

If you buy your first flash I would go with a Canon. Because with that you can do e-TTL AND manual off camera flash. Any flash you buy after that I would go with cheaper ones like the vivitar so you can do multi flash manual (off camera.)

Pocketwizards are rock solid and I would buy that if you are making a business out of you photography. Otherwise to stay low budget consider the Yongnuo RF-602 a great set (eBay $28) with a better construction then the cactus and more reach, 320 feet compared to Cactus 30 feet.

Again you can read this all on Off Camera Flash Workshop do a search for triggers and flashes.

I JUST FOUND OUT I ALREADY ADVISED YOU ON THIS............. so this is a repeat question with a repeat answer!
