This morning I found a whole bunch fly nymphs in garden. By the afternoon, they'd finished their transformation and become adults. 1, 2, and 3 are nymphs, 4 and 5 are adults. I'm not sure what these are - any ideas? I thought perhaps some kind of mydas flies, but the shape of the antennae doesn't seem right.

Any comments on the lighting? I'm experimenting with diffuser setups right now.

Thanks for the comment and identification, orionmystery. :D I went searching on bugguide.net for soldier flies and I'm pretty sure these are garden soldier flies (Exaireta spinigera).

Thanks, carlos58.
