So there is a F to Z mount...
But will we ever be able to use Z mount lenses on our F mount cameras? ^^

Like a Focal reducer ? :)

The reason I am wondering is,
because in the line up of the Z lenses there comes a 14-30 F/4 lens.
Wouldn't this become a superb 10-21 F2.8 lens on a F mount camera? (or perhaps only on the F mount DX cameras)
for FX, It is the same sensor size, but the opening to camera is bigger on the Z mount.
I am possible wrong that you could use a focal reducer.... But since the glass on the Z lenses are designed for a bigger opening, and you use this on a F mount, wouldn't this result in losing the 'softer' edges, specially on DX? so better quality overall.

doesn't work that way.

With a focal reducer the lens has to mount CLOSER to the sensor than normal. Focal reducers also reduce the image size (not the lens rear element) so a Z lens (FF) will not cover FF after reduction.

It would be possible to use a teleconverter to mount Z lenses on F bodies, but you'd need quite a powerful TC, probably more much than 3X. As with all teleconverters any flaws in the image will be magnified & the images will be dimmer... I very much doubt any of the new lenses will prove much good under such circumstances!
M42 adapters for Nikon SLRs usually include a TC which is of the region of a 1.1X or 1.2X just to cope with a reduction in registration of around 1mm, Z to F is a reduction of about 30mm - much worse!

Anyone whos that determined to stick with an optical viewfinder, rather than investigate the advantages of an EVF, would be well advised to avoid the Z mount range altogether.
