"Snuggling" is the word that also springs to my mind, Jeanne.
So the right word did spring to my mind?
Good.
For these are ... cute, no matter how easily and fast they could "bite us to shreds", as W.Smith is pointing out. Mostly so the second. In especially that second photo they don't look like they could be in the biting-to-shreds-mood!
