How did you do that with the first picture...what software did you use?

Photoshop 6.0 and various masked layer levels, then a shift of the blue layer (little warmer) and an enhancement of the red and yellow (saturation) channel.

Well, Photoshop 6.0 is far from being "new", mind ... it's licence ran out in 1999... but it was still complicated enough for me at the beginning!

okay... this is really starting to bug me. How do you post larger photos here? I am a subscriber and I have to upload an attachment and then "manage it". Every time I try to insert an image, it ask me for a url. What am I doing wrong?

We post our pics to other photo hosts like Photobucket or Fastpictures or so and link them from there. I have never so far made any use of the private gallery space I have on TPF.

Actually I am not allowed to post any attachments either... Do I have to pay to be able to do that?

I think you have to be a subscriber to post attachments.
