I cant tell if this is a joke or not. I will pretend it is not, until I am told otherwise. What is your subject? A black and white flower with huge power lines in the background? It is not a "pretty" image to look at, it isnt "dramatic", it doesnt give off any emotion or show any strong technical skills at all.

I know for a fact, you could take 5 steps out your front door and take a better photo, which is why I dont get the point of this shot.

I have to agree on this one. I really don't get it. The utility pole and the power line heading into the tree is really distracting. Then there are the light gray blossoms against the light gray sky? This doesn't seem like your serious work.

I certainly understand it or think I do as a nice marriage of organic and inorganic objects, or random naturalistic lines juxtaposed against geometric angles and shapes, but I am not overly convinced by the arrangement.

It's transformer-ative!!!!!!

On the up & up (wink): Not too bad. There's some nice dappled light, just a couple splotches, which are handled nicely. It is an interesting exercise in showing us contrasts in irregular, natural lines and man-made, straight lines. THere seems to have been a dodging of the light right in the center of the image, which leads the eye to the large gathering of the blossoms (magnolia?), which has one of its petals lighted by that aforementioned dappled sunlight. The transformr case is lighted by 'hot' sunlight. The hot light patches sort of echo...the blossom, and the transformer, the natural and the man-made, each lighted by the same sun. Overall, a much more-interesting photo than say, your grasses and tin-sided barn shot. This is actually not too bad, but of course one needs to be able to "read" photos, and be familiar with esoteric aspects of artistic use of the camera. I mean, it's not a big butterfly shown up-close; it's not a busty 25 year-old female in high heels and negligee; it's not a cheezy-smiling bride and freshly scrubbed groom...and it's in that old-fashioned black and white form....so it might not be very "accessible" to many people who are more used to tired, well-worn tropes.
