As requested. :D

I received a Sears 28/2.8,1:4 macro this morning & tried it out @ minimum focal length on two blossoms that opened on the geranium. Got the lens on eBay for $38 with shipping included.

Wow, a Sears lens? That's a beautiful shot. I'm curious, when was that lens produced and do you know who actually manufactured it? I must say I'm impressed.

I have seen this same lens with several different brand names on it including CPC (Pentax?). Branded Sears they sells for less. This lens is made in Korea & the first two numbers in the serial # are 85 if that is any indication of the year of manufacture.

I now have four Sears lenses including the 135/2.8 which is praised by many users. Here is a shot with the Sears 135:

Awww, Ron, thank you so much for extra getting yourself a NEW lens for the photo of the opened geraniums! :hugs:
I much, much, much appreciate that (the fact that you took the photo for me and dedicated the thread to me)!

Very nice shot, Ron, as usual. Do you have a lost twin brother living in the Montreal area? I know a really good photographer who has a collection of old lenses numbering in the several hundred, and he delights in producing superb photos with these antiques (well, older than ten years, anyways). He's also very humble about his skills, but his control over light, DOF and composition are astounding. Your stuff looks a lot like his. So... do you have a twin you're looking for?;)

Laf Pgriz, I have twins all over the place. I have traveled a fair bit & been mistaken for some local in many places. The most amazing being taken for an old boyfriend by a girl in Vidalia, Louisiana USA.

The second shot with the bee is amazing! Never knew Sears made lenses.

They did not Lucy, they just had other manufactures put the Sears name on them for the North American market. Not unlike Vivitar but Vivitar actually did the designs & set the specifications.
