Until today, I'd managed to suppress my desire for another film camera. A bit earlier, I bought a very nice Mamiya 645 Pro TL, and I've snagged a number of lenses for it. I've shot some transparencies, and I'm waiting on developing and scanning now.

I usually check Craig's List and local shops for just about anything Nikon that may catch my eye. I saw an ad for a mint condition F6, and bought it today. The condition, and the fact that the price was $500 was just too good to leave sitting. At a local shop, I located some Fuji Velvia 100, so I'm back in the 35mm film business again. The camera doesn't have the MB-40 pack, and it uses CR-123 batteries, which I replaced.

I noticed that with an adapter plate, you can use the EN-EL4 battery in lieu of the CR-123.

Have any of you substituted the EN-EL4 battery, and if so, what type of experience have you had? This won't be a "production" camera, so I may be chasing my tail here.

The EN-EL4 and EN-EL4a are very good batteries in the D2x and D3x cameras, giving a LOT of shots. Part of it has to do with the very "smart" Nikon factory chargers that came with those cameras. My original, factory-supplied battery for my May 3, 2005 purchased D2x is **still** working. These batteries are significantly larger and more-powerful than those used in consumer-type Nikons. VERY good batteries when used with the appropriate factory chargers, which can determine when a refresh cycle is needed.
