What's new

for time is a river

I have a profound and irrational dislike for 3:2 aspect ratio in portrait orientation. ;) So when I look at this I think "crop to 4:3 and lose the bottom". In my opinion, it would help the composition, but the handle's relationship to the white stain is still somewhat uncomfortable to me visually even with the crop. To me, it's less objectionable than keeping the bottom. Keeping it at 3:2 makes me want to move the handle down to the left corner.

Yes, I know what you mean. I usually have that irrational dislike of vertical 3:2 as well - most of my images are vertical and usually roughly 4:3 - perhaps there's some kind of shock treatment for that phobia that we can subject ourselves to, I don't know. Here, somehow it seemed to work for me. I too wish the handle were a little lower, but I'm not sure about cropping the bottom.

Thanks much for analyzing and commenting.

I too could see a little off the bottom for the same reason -- bring the handle down a little, but very nice photo.

Thanks Joe. I may even try moving the handle via PS. I don't normally like to spend my time this way, but it may make a big difference to this image, so why not?
