I’ll be posting here for my forest walks. My dogs get two walks a day, one in the moring, my wife does that one and one in the afternoon that I do. As the forest changes through the year it like to have a thread to show the progression. Over the years we’ve made about 25 km of trails thorugh the crown land around our house. So, it’s not pictures of urban walks around the block. It’s out in real forest, where we deal with downed trees blocking our paths, rocky uneven terrain etc. but the bonus is, we almost never see anyone, Our dogs can run off leash. We have the odd encoounter with wolves, moose or bear, but nothing but some elevated heart rate comes from them. The dogs always let us know when something big is nearby, by trying to stand under our feet or pointing, or in one recent case, a big woof from Chase to let a moose using our path know we were there, sending the big fella off into the bush.

Our early spring wildflowers are finally starting to bloom.

Chase, on part of the trail.

For some people “Location”means close to goods and services. For us it meant touching crown land with access to places to make walking paths. From our back door we can access thousands of acres of largely unused crown land, and 7000 Km of Algonquin Park. Although at my age, my walks are about a Km, and usually don’t use more than about 50 acres. However, if needed we can walk to the local grocery store, pharmacy, doctors office, liquor store, and mechanics as well as few outdoor stores. WIlderness, without isolation. In the summer our stores are clogged with the 1.3 million people who visit the park every summer.
