Forgot how stupidly hard toddlers are to photo..

I was trying to shoot my niece Lily, she moved around so much I had to change the flash and exposure settings nearly every shot. Out of 70 pics this was my favourite. SB-800 on camera, don't have any off cam kit (yet). I like it, just wish I had more of her outline to the right of her head.

You get used to it. I try to get as close to ambient as possible without flash (when using flash) so I have some room to push and pull the exposures if I need to. Relying too much on the flash for the exposure leaves you with a dark mess if you get the lighting wrong for whatever reason (or an overexposed mess, take your pick).

I know how hard it is to photograph young people... I do like this image though... hahaha the expression on the kid's face is priceless....
