Found the first beetle outside our apartment and the shield-backed katydid at the local forest preserve. Creepy critters, eh?

That is a nice bug in 1 but he looks uncomfortable on your carpet .... just as if carpets were not his natural habitat .

That looks like one really big beetle. The only time i ever saw stag beetles was when doing mark and recapture with them on a spanish beach, fantastic animls, i woold love to see one in the wild again. Lovely shots.
