As hinted to in the title the road to getting positive results out of this camera had a couple pothole and twists. But all worth the time!
For many years I fed my addiction to photography by searching eBay. When the photo industry switched from film to digital there was many penny to the dollar buys. As a result of that I ended up with a near new Cambo SC-2 with everything needed to take pictured with exception to a tripod and lens. That was almost 20 years ago and from then to now I fabricated the needed parts and found appropriate lenses, again on eBay.
Once I was happy with the hardware, I still needed film to load but I came up with an alternative plan to use photo print paper as the film. I had never tried that myself, but have seen examples which put me in possession to try! This past Monday, I had enough preparing and hauled my Cambo and tripod out to the back yard only to find the Kodak lens I mounted wouldn't quite do the job! I couldn't adjust the lens board to the film board close enough to get the focus right...almost so I went for it! My neighbors work building was the subject and I shot two. The first was raw enlarging paper and the second was using a sheet that I pre-flashed. While not as perfect as I'd like, dang I finally had photographs I'd been waiting for many years! Now I was really charged up so on Tuesday I swapped lenses to my Fuji, picked out a better subject (our house) and snapped a beautifully composed photo! To my darkroom with a big grin only to find unexplained weird junk! About 10% of the frame had any normal look to it otherwise the lighting of the exposure was way off and I was thoroughly ticked off now! Come Wednesday I changed up a bit and desided on an inside picture where all was controled. Subject was our deluxe tub and fancy sky lighting window. Of course, being indoors my shutter speed dropped to a full second otherwise all else was the same as the prior day. FINALLY good results!!
