thanks for looken.

Wow, this is an amazing series. I can imagine it's hard to take photographs here.

Number 1 is chilling. The second and the last two are my favourite...seems a crude word to use here. I think the second shows something of the conditions without being graphic. The last two are shocking with these titles. "200,000"...chilling. a great series. I think done sensitively but still showing the horrors of these places.

Nice series... you really portrayed the mood well. I believe I have seen that last photo before... perhaps in critique? I don't remember. I remember thinking how the shadows of the people added to the photo - making it appear as the spirits of those that died were still present in that room.

Anyway, I really like these photos and the story they tell.

Hard to fathom what went on there. Chilling indeed and everyone of them are very well done; the toning adds to the feeling.
Excellent series.

These are excellent pictures and they capture the mood very well. IMO, "the face of death" doesn't really fit to the series here, because it is rather heavily "moving" while the others are quiet and just sensitively documenting what you've seen there. But these are all great images, thanks for sharing!

Your photos are very strong, "fightthe....".
I was in Dachau myself when I was only 14 years old and I cried when I came out.
Since that is over 30 years ago, I no longer remember if I took any photos ... I think I did of the "Arbeit macht frei", but I have no idea where those photos are...

thanks all.
the last photo was in the critique place. i believe it was the first photo i posted.

my entire goal as far as photographically when i went here was to capture the feeling of the place so i could try to explain to my friends when i got home. its hard to put into words.

im glad you all like it.

You did a great job. :) I remember your last image in the critique forum, too.

Overall, these all appear dark on my monitor. They are so good compositionally, though. And it is indeed very dark subject matter.

all of them are at least 1/3 under exposed though on my monitor they dont appear too dark. i tend to like my B&W pictures to be slightly under exposed and especially when i was shooting here i felt the darkness added to the feeling.

You have defintely reached your goal of bringing up emotions. When I saw the 4th picture, I knew that was the place I had been when I was six years old ten years ago in May of 1996. Now everything (except the second picture), I remember. Amazing how some things just hide away in the memory.

I hope I don't sound like a broken record, but these are amazing in every way.

Very good series, you definatly succeeded in capturing some of the mood. There are a number of good shots, but I find the shadows in the last shot particularly interesting.

great series. wonderful job photographing this place, i don't know if i could have done it...
